Business Outreach Privacy Notice
This notice explains what Owens Enterprises holds about businesses we contact about our products, where it came from, and how to make us stop.
1. Who we are and who this covers
Owens Enterprises LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company at 312 W. 2nd St., #2514, Casper, WY 82601, USA ("we," "us"), makes software for local businesses, including Giin. This notice applies to businesses, such as bars, restaurants and hotels, that we contact about our products before they become customers, and to the people whose business email addresses we use to reach them. If you become a customer, that product's own privacy policy covers your account from then on.
2. What we collect
- Business details: your business's name, address, category (for example sports bar or brewery), website, and whether it appears to be open or closed.
- A business email address: an address your business publishes, such as one listed on your website or in a public business listing.
- Public business signals: facts we can see from public sources, such as whether your website links to a booking or ordering system, and whether public government records show an active alcohol license at your address.
- Our outreach record: where and when we found your email address, the result of checking that it can receive mail, which of our products we contacted you about, the emails we sent, any reply, whether you visited a preview page we made for you, and any opt-out.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not buy email lists.
- We do not store phone numbers.
- We do not store the names of license holders from government records. We use only the business name and premises address.
- We do not collect sensitive data, such as health, financial or identity information.
- We do not use an email address from any web page that asks not to be contacted or prohibits collecting addresses.
- We generally do not collect anyone's name. If a business email address contains a name (such as jane@yourbar.com), we hold it only as part of that address.
4. Where it comes from
- Public business datasets, such as the Overture Maps Foundation places data and Foursquare's open source places data.
- Public government records, such as alcohol license lists published by state regulators (for example, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission).
- Your business's own website, which we may read to find a published business email address and the public signals above. Our crawler identifies itself by the product it works for (for example, GiinBot) and follows robots.txt instructions.
- Email verification, which tells us whether an address can receive mail.
5. How we use it
- To decide which businesses might benefit from our products, and to email them about those products.
- To build a private preview page for your business, reachable only through the link in our email. It is not listed publicly, and search engines are asked not to index it.
- To fill in your details if you choose to sign up, so you don't have to type them again.
- To check that an address can receive mail before we email it.
- To honor opt-outs, so we never contact you again, about any product, after you ask us to stop.
- To learn, from combined results, which kinds of businesses and areas find our products useful.
We use automated scoring to decide which businesses to contact first. It does not produce legal or similarly significant effects for you. We send at most three emails to an address about any one product, and we stop as soon as you reply, opt out or sign up.
6. Legal basis
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in telling businesses about products that may help them. We think this is fair because we use only details your business has made public, we contact you in your business role, we send few emails, and you can opt out at any time. Before contacting businesses in a new country, we check that country's rules and, where required, document a legitimate interest assessment. You can object at any time (see section 10).
7. Who we share it with
We never sell or rent this information. We share it only with service providers that process it for us under contract:
- Google, which hosts the mailboxes we send from (Google Workspace).
- ZeroBounce, which checks whether an email address can receive mail.
- Supabase and GitHub, which store our records and run our data jobs.
Public mapping services, such as the US Census Bureau's geocoder, receive business addresses taken from public license records so we can place them on a map. We may also disclose information when the law requires it. If we sell or merge all or part of our business, this information may pass to the new owner, who must honor this notice and every opt-out.
8. Where it is stored
Our database is hosted by Supabase in Tokyo, Japan. Our providers also process the information in the United States and other countries, for example when our data jobs run or when an email is checked or sent. Where the law of your country requires safeguards for these transfers, we use them.
9. How long we keep it
- Business details (name, address, category, website and public signals): kept indefinitely, to keep our records of local businesses current.
- Business email addresses and outreach records: kept while your business appears active and the address still works, so we can tell you about relevant products and never repeat an email sequence, unless you ask us to delete them. We delete addresses that stop working.
- Opt-outs: if you opt out, we permanently keep a scrambled copy of your email address (a hash). It is not stored in readable form, and we use it only to recognize your address and never contact you again.
- If you sign up, the details you confirm become part of your account under that product's privacy policy.
10. Your choices and rights
- Stop our emails: reply "stop" to any of our emails, or use the unsubscribe link in it. We stop right away, and always within 5 business days. Your opt-out covers every Owens Enterprises product, not just the one we emailed you about.
- See, correct or delete what we hold: email support@owens-enterprises.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you ask us to delete your information, we delete it and keep only the scrambled opt-out copy described in section 9, so we never contact you again by mistake.
- Object: you can object to our use of your information at any time. For marketing, an objection always means we stop.
- Complain: you can complain to the data protection authority where you are.
11. Changes and contact
